Hemp was utilized for so many purposes including food in the U.S. One example is Hemp oil, it was intended for salad dressing.
How it’s Made:
Hemp oil is extracted by pressing the seeds, flowers and leaves of a hemp plant. Hemp oil is then incorporated in food as dressing, sauce or cooking in all forms.(1)
Advantages:
Hemp being a provider of good fats, also provides minerals such as calcium, phosphorus and magnesium that helps improves the immune system.(2)
Disadvantages:
Too much consumption of hemp seed oil on food may lead to digestive upset or loosened stools.(3)
History:
Records show that in 1000 BCE China, hemp seeds were served in cereal dishes.(4)
Looking to the Future:
Further research has been done after passing the US’s 2018 Farm Bill regarding the legalization of hemp production. With this, it is expected that hemp-based products are going to hit the market in the future.(5)
