Description:

Hemp seed contains protein called Hemp Protein, which is made up of Edestin and 2S Albumin. Hemp Protein also manifested anti-stress effects.

How it’s Made:

To make hemp protein, oil extraction is done on the hemp seeds and the remaining seed meal is refined into powder.(1)

Advantages:

Hemp protein is a good choice for vegans because it is a complete source of protein that includes antioxidants, minerals, fiber and heart-healthy unsaturated fats.(2)

Disadvantages:

Gas, bloatedness or diarrhea may be experienced to those who consume too much hemp protein as this contains relatively high amounts of fiber.(3)

History:

Hemp used for food dates back to the beginnings of recorded history specifically in Ancient China and India. Hemp was planet earth’s largest agricultural crop and the most important industry for nearly 3000 years.(4)

Looking to the Future:

Due to rising awareness about hemp protein products, hemp protein has gained traction over the years as a result to increase research and published studies thus increasing its demand.(5)
