Description:

Bow strings along with so many products used for every day living are being grown on American farms. Fibers that are made of hemp are considered to be more sustainable.

How it’s Made:

Traditional materials that make up the bow strings are hemp fibers and linens.(1)

Advantages:

Hemp fibers are relatively strong and is not easily affected by water.(2)

Disadvantages:

The production of hemp as a material is vague. It undergoes a strict manufacturing process.(3)

History:

In pre-10000 BCE Chinese military discovered that hemp fibers are much stronger material for bowstrings compared to bamboo.(4)

Looking to the Future:

Industrial hemp is a very versatile product with many potential uses thus the policy of hemp cultivation is expected to change at the state and federal levels over the coming years.(5)
