Advantages:
Hemp aids in providing general nutrition in animal health. It is high in fiber and a good source of Copper, Iron, Boron, Nitrogen and Zinc.(2)
Disadvantages:
As per the current law, animals on hemp feed cannot be sold for human consumption.(3)
History:
Hemp seed as documented throughout history has been used to create oil and can also be made as a solid food form that is an inexpensive and nutrient-rich ingredient for both human and animals.(4)
Looking to the Future:
Hemp animal feed may not produce a great deal of profit in the market considering that hemp products has not been approved for animal food or pet food however the potential as animal feed has risen interest on farmers and is developed to be promoted by Hemp Feed Coalition (HFC) in Denver.(5)
