Different products require various parts of the hemp plant.
Here is a description of each part used.
Seeds / Seed Oils
Hemp seeds are a great source of protein, essential fatty acids, dietary fiber, vitamin E and more. (1)
The hemp seeds can be processed into oil that can be used for things like paint but also salad dressing and much more.
Hurds / Shives
The soft, woody core of the hemp stalk. (2)
Fibers
The outer portion of the stem, which contains the long bast, cellulosic fibers (3)
Leaves / Flower & Flower Oils
Leaves are the lateral appendage of the plant which is the most important structure for photosynthesis. (4)
The flowering part of the plant is also referred to as the bud. The female flowers contain THC and other cannabinoids in amounts higher than any other part of the plant.
